Bio

Amanda K. Chen is a specialist in the art and archaeology of the ancient Roman world. Her research investigates representations of transition, ambiguity, and identity in the material record and the archaeology of south and central Italy. She has published and presented her research at various national and international venues. Recent publications explore the meaning and dynamic nature of funerary monuments and domestic décor in ancient Campania.

Amanda is also a field archaeologist. She serves as the Director of the Coriglia Excavation Project (Orvieto, Italy) and Co-Director of the Sentinum City Archaeological Research Project (Sassoferrato, Italy), and particularly enjoys bringing KCAI students to Italy each year. Amanda received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her B.A. in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles.
